Gotta have it: New Dark Horse Game of Thrones figures are coming

Ah, the world of collectible figurines. Just when you think you’ve gotten over your obsession with Game of Thrones or Star Wars or what have you, it pulls you back in with merch. Money is overrated. Little toys are what matters.

Case in point: last week, geeks descended on the 2019 New York Comic Con, where toymakers were peddling their newest wares. As usual, Dark Horse had a strong showing, with new Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen figures that will be available just in time for the holidays. Up first is season 8 Jon Snow for $49.99.

Following Jon is season 8 Daenerys, also for $49.99.

The figures won’t be available until December 18, but you can pre-order now. I like how Dark Horse chose to show Jon and Dany in their Winterfell garb, before things got extremely awkward and stabby.

From Westeros to a galaxy far, far away, we’ve got a sampling of Triple Force Friday collectibles. This year, Disney chose to go with merch from a movie called The Rise of Skywalker, a television show called The Mandalorian, and a video game called Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.  Once again, Disney and Hasbro have teamed up to create an ultimate checklist of available toys for those who want to collect ’em all.

Let’s hit some highlights. Here we have a Wedge Antilles Black Series figurine for $19.99. Does this mean he’ll be in The Rise of Skywalker?

Wedge. Hasbro.

Here’s lead character Cal Kestis from Fallen Order. For $19.99, you also get his droid pal BD-1.

Here’s a mysterious Knight of Ren for $12.99

…and here’s his boss: Supreme Leader Kylo Ren for $19.99. He’s seven dollars more important.

So hear me out: This is a toy lightsaber for $299, but it’s the most realistic one Hasbro has released yet.

What does all that scratch get you? Let’s let the specs do the talking:

  • 80 LEDs and sound movie-inspired sound effects make this the most realistic Force FX lightsaber yet.
  • The real metal hilt features design and deco based on Kylo Ren’s iconic lightsaber featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
  • Slide and press buttons on the hilt to activate progressive ignition, battle clash effect, molten glow effect and unstable plasma effect.
  • Proudly display this lightsaber on the included stand, with or without the removable blades, and show off the included collectible coin.

Here’s the first ever figure from The MandalorianThis guy is $19.99 and is already sold out. So, you gotta check back later to see when he’s in stock.

The Mandalorian. Hasbro.

Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal plays this guy. Not that we’ll know that with his helmet always on.

Before you go, take a look at Stan Lee’s figure from the Avengers movies.

Stan Lee. Hasbro

Awwww. $24.99 is nothing to have a legend like that looking over my shoulder as I work at my desk each day. Stan doesn’t even ship until March of 2020.

Next. Is Wedge Antilles appearing in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker?. dark
