Outlander season 5 is going to beĀ extra special, as Diana Gabaldon, the author of the source material herself, will be penning an episode, according to Entertainment Weekly. This will mark the second time sheās written an episode of the STARZ series, the last one being all the way back in season 2ās eleventh episode, āVengeance is Mine.ā Iām not sure if you remember that episode, but letās just say heads were rolling at the Duke of Sandringhamās estate.
The fun started when Gabaldon and OutlanderĀ executive producer Matthew B. Roberts began exchanging funny tweets.
What, you mean.....ćdrumrollć....like Ep 511? š¤

Why, yes...I think I -did- manage to squeeze that in, now you mention it...š https://t.co/rSdlmDO9br
Gabaldon has been working hard on the ninth book in herĀ OutlanderĀ series, āGo Tell the Bees That I Am Gone,ā but luckily for us all, she found some time to write the eleventh episode of season 5, title yet unknown. As mentioned above, she wrote the eleventh episode of season 2, as well. Whatās with the number 11? Probably a coincidence, but we always love a good mystery.

While fans are ecstatic over this news, Gabaldon was quick to point out that thereās a lot more than just her unfiltered creativity that goes into a TV script. Itās like writing a book, where itās just you and your brain and the word processor. A lot of people give their input and bring their talents to the table. Basically, it doesnāt mean that Episode 511 will be a towering classic simply because sheās writing it.
Well, do bear in mind that ALL the episodes go through multiple rewrites, during which people other than the original author may add or change things. https://t.co/nCRgeKAUY2

In any case, based on star Caitriona Balfeās (Claire Fraser) tweet, it looks like filming for Episode 511 is set to begin very soon:
And it is (no surprise) a brilliant Ep ... Canāt wait to start shooting it this week..!! @Writer_DG šš¼šš¼šš¼šš¼ https://t.co/wyXyqoAmoU

Fans were given a taste of what Gabaldon brought to script after she tweeted out a line of dialogue that was taken out.
"Voltaire never dug a privy in his life." I can share that one because they took it out. š https://t.co/JRf69OUHvK

Voltaire is a famous writer from the Enlightenment period. Why someone was talking about him digging a privy, we may never know. It definitely sounds like something Claire would say, doesnāt it?
