Zoe Kravitz will play Catwoman in The Batman
Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz — daughter of Lenny — has inked a deal to play Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, in director Matt Reeves’ The Batman standalone movie, reports Variety. She”ll star opposite Twilight star Robert Pattinson, who’s playing Bruce Wayne, aka Batman.
We caught wind of a rumor about four months ago that Pattinson’s Batman would be facing Catwoman and/or Penguin in the film. Looks like at least one of those is true.
Most recently, Anne Hathaway played Catwoman on the big screen in The Dark Knight Rises, but the character has a long and storied cinematic history, with some very talented actors donning the whiskers over the years. Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt played her in the 1960s TV show and Michelle Pfeiffer was phenomenal in the part in 1992’s Batman Returns. Halle Berry played her in the standalone Catwoman movie, and Camren Bicondova portrayed her in the Gotham TV show.
Reeves’ plan for The Batman is to show the Caped Crusader as more of a detective. Catwoman, who’s among Batman’s more down-to-earth enemies, fits nicely into that interpretation.
