MCU czar Kevin Feige promoted to Chief Creative Officer at Marvel

Since 2008’s Iron Man, producer Kevin Feige has shepherded the Marvel Cinematic Universe to dizzying success, with $26.8 billion in box office revenue and hype heard round the world. The guy seems to have the magic touch; every Marvel movie he’s involved with does well, and that includes the Marvel movies made over at Sony, like Spider-Man: Far From Home.

It’s only natural, then, that Feige would rise in the company. Deadline reports that he’s been promoted to Chief Creative Officer for Marvel, meaning that all of the company’s key creative executives working on film and television projects report to him, including bigwigs like Marvel Entertainment President Dan Buckley. The heads of Marvel Family Entertainment, which makes animation, will also report to Feige.

Honestly, I’m surprised there was more power to give Feige in the first place. As mentioned, the MCU is a historic success, and as the guy in charge of it, Feige was already one of the most powerful men in Hollywood. But with Disney readying a bunch of Marvel shows for Disney+, it makes sense to put Feige in the big chair.

And by the way, this is all on top of Feige collaborating with Star Wars boss Kathleen Kennedy on a new Star Wars movie. His tendrils are everywhere!

That’s a derogatory way to put it, because up to this point, most people have loved what Feige has done at Marvel Studios. Let’s just hope that he, like Thanos before him, doesn’t go mad with power.
