Aaron Paul knows how Westworld ends—”It is insane”

Aaron Paul has had quite a year already. Recently, Paul returned to the world of Breaking Bad in El Camino, which followed his character Jesse Pinkman after he sped off in the series finale. But that’s not all he has up his sleeve. Last year, it was announced that Paul would be starring in the third season of HBO’s Westworld, and by the looks of it, he has a major part.

As of yet, we still have no idea who or what he’s playing, but rest assured, we are inching ever so closely to finding everything out.

We still don’t know exactly how Paul’s character will fit into HBO’s tale of sentient robots who turn against their makers, but he’s knee-deep in it now. In an interview with The Independent, Paul revealed that he was told how Westworld would end by the show’s creators.

"I sat down with [creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy] and they pitched me this character and they pitched me the broad strokes of the arc of the rest of the series. It is insane."

Aaron Paul knows how Westworld will end! If that’s not an exciting privilege, I don’t know what is.

Naturally, the entire experience has been mindblowing for Paul. “This show is so unbelievably ambitious and I walk onto these sets and my jaw is on the floor,” he said. “I feel like I’m a little kid again playing cops and robbers on the biggest scale possible.

And as it ends up, Joy and Nolan have wanted Paul on their show for a while. He could have come on board back in season 1, but logistics got in the way.

"We were actually trying to come up with a world where I was going to be in the first season. I was just so deep into negotiations on this other show and the logistics couldn’t work out. And then they approached me again for this third season and I was actually deep into negotiations on this other show, so I was reliving the same moment in my life again! I was stressing out because I had to turn Westworld down the first time around. I just watched it and thought to myself, ‘My God, this is the perfect show.’ I couldn’t miss out on this second opportunity."

And we’re so glad he made it happen! Based on the teasers we’ve gotten so far, Paul’s character looks pretty darn interesting. I’m excited to see how he will play into this world, and where the story will go after the major changes at the end of season 2.

Paul didn’t tell The Independent who he was going to originally play back in season 1, but given how detailed this world is, we don’t lack for options! I’m thinking Ashley Stubbs, Lee Sizemore, or young William. Thoughts?
