Doctor Who series 12 marks the return of the infamous Daleks?

Doctor Who fans — aka Whovians — spotted something interesting in an Instagram post from set, in regards to the upcoming series 12: Daleks! Yes, that’s right. Upon Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge, fans saw the Doctor’s iconic nemesis being prepared for what appears to be a battle of some type. More on that in a second.

Given the thrill of the sight, some managed to snap a couple of shots of the Daleks on the bridge amidst the production team. Did you notice their new design?

In the 2019 New Year’s episode, “Resolution,” we were treated to a ‘Recon Dalek’ which looks similar to the middle Dalek featured in the picture above. Except, this particular one looks even more badass, so I think we can expect the Daleks to be bigger and better than ever. Or at least one of them, anyway.

However, the other Daleks around this main one are from the older bunch (the golden ones from the 2005 version) so it’s really tough to say what could be going on here. Is this for an episode? this for a promo? Is this even for a Doctor Who episode? It would be weird if it wasn’t.

Perhaps, the Daleks are once again partaking in a civil war of some type, based on the video above. The Recon Dalek seems to be at the mercy of the larger group of Daleks and is destroyed by them. Hmmm, this Doctor Who mystery keeps getting more and more curious.

We have to sit tight and wait a while to find out what’s really going on when the series returns in 2020. But I am over the moon excited to know that Daleks could potentially be a part of series 12. Honestly, it’s just not a Doctor Who season without them.
