New Star Wars comic cover reveals important detail about Knights of Ren

We are a mere 56 days from the theatrical premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the final film in the sequel trilogy and the ninth and final installment in the Skywalker Sage that has spanned for more than forty years.

As it does with each new Star Wars movie, Lucasfilm/Disney publishing is releasing a plethora of companion books and comics that tell never-before-seen stories about characters and places that will feature prominently in Rise.

In that vein, a new comic from Marvel Star Wars titled Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren #2 reveals a very important detail about the Knights of Ren. Check it out:

"That cover… It says A LOT. from StarWarsLeaks"

You’re looking at Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and his padawan Ben Solo fighting the Knights of Ren. Ben has his blue-bladed lightsaber and Luke has his Return of the Jedi green-bladed weapon. However, the key feature is the tall Knight of Ren standing above the fray, seemingly directing the other Knights of Ren to attack then two Jedi, and in his right hand, he holds a red-bladed Sith lightsaber…and no, it’s not the crossguard one Kylo Ren uses now.

Since 2015’s The Force Awakens, speculation has run rampant on who the Knights of Ren were and how they came to be. Many fans — myself included — always thought Snoke formed the group, but when they failed to show up in TFA (except in a flashback) and The Last Jedi, I wondered if they even mattered.

While most of the Knights use a varied assortment of crude-looking weapons, we’ve never seen one weild a red lightsaber, let alone any lightsaber, for that matter. So, is the tall Knight of Ren actually Snoke with a helmet on? Or, is he the leader that Ben Solo had to kill to become the Master of the Knights of Ren, taking his lightsaber and forcing the cracked kyber crystal inside — obviously damaged in battle — to vent its energy through the crossguards?

Of course, this is all speculation until the comic actually comes out and we know the real story. Here’s the info on the comic itself from Marvel:
