The Batman has found its Commissioner Gordon: Jeffrey Wright

As speculated, Emmy and Tony-award winner Jeffrey Wright is our next Commissioner Gordon! Yes, that’s right, the excellent actor who plays Bernard Lowe in Westworld and Belize in Angels in America is adding Gotham’s most famous cop to his roster of awesome roles, according to IGN. Director Matt Reeves tweeted out the news on Wednesday, and naturally, the internet went bananas.
And why wouldn’t it?! Over the years, we’ve seen many versions of Commissioner Gordon. But seeing someone as talented as Wright in the role is very promising. Can’t you already see him heading up to the roof to switch on the Batman signal?

There have been a bunch of announcements regarding The Batman of late, with Zoe Kravitz playing Catwoman and Paul Dano playing the Riddler. And of course, Robert Pattinson is the Batman himself. I’m a little sad that rumors of Jonah Hill having a role didn’t pan out — he would have made a perfect Oswald Cobblepot — but we can’t have everything.

By and large, this movie is looking good. I know DC Universe movies don’t exactly have the best track record, but this cast is really starting to get stacked.
