HBO teases what shows are coming in 2020
2019 has been a big year for HBO. It saw the end of an eight-season run with the Game of Thrones series finale, Succession season 2, the surprise hit that was Chernobyl, and the series premiere of Watchmen that was the highest-rated series premiere since Westworld in 2016. His Dark Materials also debuted this year, which is off to a great start.
Since we’re nearing the end of the year, HBO has released a “Coming Soon in 2020” promotional video. Check it out:
Obviously we’re excited about Westworld season 3, with Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul coming on board for a new suite of episodes set mainly outside the titular park, although as we see from the footage, there will still be plenty of action inside, with Maeve (Thandie Newton) making her way around what looks to be a World War II-themed world.
I’m looking forward to shows like The Outsider and Lovecraft County from Jordan Peele. Another season of Barry is always welcome, as are new outings for The Righteous Gemstones, Avenue 5, My Brilliant Friend and Insecure.

Watchmen is featured heavily in the video, but I can’t see HBO blasting out a second season so quickly. However, His Dark Materials season 2 has been in production for a while, so there’s a chance we could see it in 2020.
