The Angel of Death arrives in a pair of new teasers for Vikings season 6 (UPDATED)

The final season of History’s bloody medieval adventure Vikings starts on December 4 with a special two-episode premiere. And while we’ve already been gifted with a full trailer, now we have a pair of new teasers, including one that gives us an extended look at a new character: the Angel of Death. Spooky!

Calling herself “Valkyrie, Chooser of the Slain, the Angel of Death,” actress Karen Connell ominously declares, “It’s destined by the Gods that we meet, for the chosen, the end is near.”

Listen: if Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) is one of the chosen, we riot. And given that we saw Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) burying the Sword of Kings in the full trailer — a sword she gave to Bjorn — we might just need to sharpen our pitchforks.

Of course, this is Vikings, where characters are always flying away to Valhalla, so the Angel of Death could be talking about anyone. At any rate, it wouldn’t be the first time a god appeared on Vikings. In addition to Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) declaring himself a god, his mother Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) was briefly involved with Harbard (Kevin Durand), a man we’re led to believe is actually Odin in disguise.

The next teaser isn’t quite as intriguing, but it does expand on the coming of the Rus, and what it might mean for our heroes.

Hopefully Bjorn’s election to the kingship of Norway allows him to rally the troops, because Ivar and the Rus look pretty unstoppable. If not, the Angel of Death might be pretty busy ferrying the fallen to Valhalla.

UPDATE: History released another teaser of the new season, featuring Lagertha.

Following the two-episode premiere, the remaining eight episodes of the first half of the final season will air on Wednesday evenings, with the final 10 following sometime in 2020. Skoal!
