We already knew that Amazon Prime had ordered a second season of its popular original fantasy series Carnival Row before season 1 even aired. Now, they’ve announced that the new season is officially in production. Amazon released a quick teaser video featuring key members of the cast naming two things they’re excited to see as the story goes forward.
Cara Delevingne (Vignette Stonemoss), Orlando Bloom (Rycroft Philostrate), David Gyasi (Agreus Astrayon) and Tamzin Merchant (Imogen Spurnrose) glow with excitement as they spill what might be vague story hints powered by a minimal amount of real information.
After introducing herself, Delevingne’s two things she’s most excited about are “Number one: what happens to all the characters? What happens in their storylines?” She follows up with, “Are there any new characters and new creatures we can look forward to seeing?”
Bloom, for his part, wonders “what journey Philo’s on, what it means to be a half-blood,” and is eager to continue and explore the world the show has created. Merchant wonders where her character and newfound lover Agreus might end up on their boat trip, while Gyasi hints at some interesting reveals concerning his wealthy faun.
The first season of Carnival Row ended with cliffhangers, since the creators knew they had at least one more season in the bank. The city of the Burgue is in turmoil from top to bottom, with the elite making murderous power plays in Parliament while the Fae denizens are imprisoned in the festering confines of the Row. Philo has embraced his Fae heritage and has chosen to remain with Vignette, while the oceanic escape of Imogen and Agreus probably won’t be as idyllic as they might expect.
