Doctor Who: New Eighth Doctor vinyl released in the UK today!
By James Aggas
Exclusive to ASDA, the latest Doctor Who vinyl features Paul McGann and Sheridan Smith in the Top Gear pastiche, Max Warp!
A brand new Doctor Who vinyl record has been released today in the UK. Exclusive to ASDA, Max Warp stars Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor and Sheridan Smith as Lucie Miller, and is a cross between Top Gear pastiche and classic whodunit mystery.
"When a test flight of the new Kith Sunstorm ends in disaster, the Sirius Exhibition Station is plunged into a web of murder and intrigue. Someone – or something – is trying to re-ignite a war between the Varlon Empire and the Kith Oligarchy. As the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance, only two investigators, the Doctor and Lucie, can hope to uncover the truth. So strap yourself in, engage thrust, and prepare for… Max Warp!"
It’s times like this that I definitely miss living in the UK. This latest vinyl from Big Finish looks absolutely gorgeous. With a brand new cover making the Top Gear influence even clearer, plus colored splatter effect vinyl, this really does look like a fantastic purchase for collectors to have.
The gorgeous new cover design for Max Warp is just one incentive for fans to check out the new vinyl.

Max Warp
As for the story itself? Originally released on CD and download in 2008, Max Warp takes place early on during the second season of The Eighth Doctor Adventures. At this point, the series aimed to capture a similar feel to the New Series, particularly when Russell T Davies was the showrunner, and many standalone stories were released designed to work as ideal jumping-on points.
Max Warp is a perfect example of this. If you don’t know much about The Eighth Doctor Adventures or even the Eighth Doctor himself, don’t worry: Max Warp is simply a classic example of a funny yet clever Doctor Who adventure, one you can easily enjoy on its own.
If you’re wanting to check out this vinyl release, my recommendation is to do it quick. Previous vinyl releases have sold out quickly, and at just 2,000 copies, this will be no exception. So make sure to head on down to your nearest ASDA store selling this collector’s item (which you can find in this list) and grab your copy while you can!
Of course, if you just want to check out the story itself either on CD or download (which, at the time of writing, is currently on sale), you can also purchase the story from Big Finish’s website.
