Sansa’s leather armor (season 8)

One of Sansa’s best outfits from the eighth season of Game of Thrones is her dress with the bodice that looks like leather armor. After all that she’s been through, it’s no surprise that Sansa would want to feel like she’s wearing protective gear, even if it’s not legitimate armor. And leave it to Sansa to find a way to blend her more feminine fashion style with something that shields her. It’s impressive, really, and it suits her character at this point in the show.

It’s also no mistake that Sansa dons this particular outfit whenever the Mother of Dragons is nearby. The older Stark sister makes it clear from the moment Daenerys arrives in Winterfell that she doesn’t trust the foreign queen. And her insistence on wearing “armor” — and thus closing herself off — whenever she’s forced to engage in political discussions with the woman she deems her enemy is her way of making a statement and emphasizing her disapproval.

Sansa’s sewing-needle necklace also seems more noticeable with this look than it normally is, and we can only assume that means the girl is prepared for a fight. After all, Sansa’s needle is meant to parallel Arya’s, and both Stark girls will do whatever they must to defend their home and family from their enemies, Dany included. And while Sansa may not be capable of physically combating those enemies like Arya would, she’ll use her wits and political acumen to fend them off.
