Game of Thrones taught Emilia Clarke not to Google herself
Emilia Clarke’s latest movie — Last Christmas — is splitting critics, currently sitting at 47% on the Tomatometer. The Sun’s Dan Wootton absolutely hated it, dubbing it “the worst festive film I have ever seen,” but Alonso Duralde of The Wrap complimented it for providing “a warm, fuzzy glow to light up a bleak midwinter.”
How does star Emilia Clarke deal with the division? Easy. “I don’t look at them at all,” she told BBC News. “It’s partly drama school training, and then you do a bit of theatre, and it’s just not helpful.”
That training came in handy during the early seasons of Game of Thrones.
"The way I see it, right, is that I stopped Googling myself within a year of Game of Thrones happening. Because I was like, ‘I don’t need to know what people think about the size of my bottom, thank you so much."
That’s probably for the best, then, now and forever. “And then when you stop Googling yourself, you then stop reading reviews,” Clarke continued. “If someone says something really good, if you get a 15 million-star review, someone will tell you, and if you get a ‘one-star coal in the rectum’, someone’s going to tell you!”

BBC News couldn’t let Clarke go without asking about Game of Thrones, specifically about that damn coffee cup question that just won’t die. When this last came up, Clarke said that Conleth Hill (Varys) had admitted to leaving the cup on the table during a scene from “The Last of the Starks,” but he’s since changed his tune. The BBC had barely gotten a few words into the question when Clarke stopped short. “THAT LITTLE CHEEKY… NO!” she said. “STOP! I’m not having it!”
It’s not smart to anger the Mother of Dragons. I mean, did he even see what she did to King’s Landing?

As part of her Last Christmas press blitz, Clarke also appeared on the show “Unpopular Opinions,” where she fielded questions from callers. A great many subjects came up, but the most interesting was when when a guy named Dan gave the most unpopular opinion of all: “I don’t think the last season of Game of Thrones was that bad.”
“Ayyyyy! You can stay!” Clarke exclaimed. “That was about to kill me. I was about to be like, ‘do you need me to kick off? Cause I will kick off.’ Dan, thank you! God love ya, Dan.”
