Tom Felton, who played the horrendous Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, believes the movies could be rebooted…sometime in the distant future. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, and I mean a hardcore one, I don’t think you really want to see that happen. But 20+ years down the line? Who knows how we’ll feel then?
As any Harry Potter fan knows, Draco Malfoy was a huge thorn in the side of every good, pure character in the series. Even worse was his father, the Death Eater Lucius Malfoy. Ugh, don’t even get me started with that guy.
While we’re on the topic of Lucius, it’s worth mentioning that if there was a reboot sometime in the future, that’s who Felton would want to play. Felton laid out his thought process to The Daily Mail:
"I don’t think Jo [Rowling] would want her films, her books rather and her films, to be remade anytime soon, but I’m sure in 20 years when they’ve got 4D, scratch-and-sniff cinemas, or whatever, then they’ll want to do it all over again. My hope is that when they do it I’ll be old enough to play Lucius. Give it another 15 years and I’ll come back and play Lucius. I would do it in a heartbeat."
Personally, I don’t think I’d want a reboot of any kind because some things are better left untouched. It would be nice if the franchise was preserved in the way we originally saw it. I think Screenrant makes a good point that if a reboot did happen, it would likely be the result of the franchise being sold off, like how George Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney. And if that comes to pass, I’d feel better if people from the original series, like Felton, were aboard.
