J.J. Abrams reveals the official runtime for The Rise of Skywalker
We’re a paltry 24 days away from the theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The film will be the final entry to the Star Wars sequel trilogy, as well as the last movie in the Skywalker Saga that started over 40 years ago with A New Hope.
Director J.J. Abrams is usually tight-lipped about the film, but in an interview on Sirius XM, he described what it was like for the cast and crew to film scenes with a stand-in for Carrie Fisher (General Leia), who passed before filming on Rise began.
As Entertainment Weekly notes, Abrams also revealed the official runtime of The Rise of Skywalker to be about two hours and 21 minutes (141 minutes). That means Rise is the second-longest Star Wars movie in the franchise, behind The Last Jedi, which clocked in at 152 minutes.
In addition to that bit of info, Abrams appeared on Good Morning America and recalled how an unnamed cast member left their script under the bed in their hotel room. The script was found by a housekeeping employee who gave it to someone else, who then put it on eBay.
Someone knows the secrets.
Anyway, Abrams says he’s officially done working on the movie, meaning that movies theaters will be getting their copies of the film very soon. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters in less than a month, on December 20.
