With The Mandalorian off to a great start on Disney+, expectations are high the first live-action Marvel series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which is due to land on the service in the fall of 2020. The show, which features Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprising their MCU roles, appears to be in good hands.

This confidence comes from Instagram user JustBeachy4Stacy, who posted some terrific photos from the set. How she has access, I’m not sure, but we’re not complaining.

First up, Stacy gives us a feel for the set, along with a photo of Wyatt Russell. Russell is playing John Walker, aka U.S. Agent, the government’s replacement for Captain America.

Stacy also snagged a pic of Mackie, looking slick as ever, and of some interesting artwork on a brick wall. We’re not sure what the picture of the homeless encampment is about.

The show is shooting in Barnesville, Georgia, far from the exotic locations where much of the Avengers movies are set. It looks like it’s going for more of a down-home American feel.

Stacy took more photos, but they’re not on her Instagram. Rather, they’re up over at Murphy’s Multiverse. These photos give us hints about a new character.

One of these photos shows a storefront labeled “Hoskins Family Flowers.” Another shows a truck bearing the same logo. In the comics, Lemar Hoskins is the name of an African-American superhero who becomes sidekick to U.S. Agent, even taking the name Bucky, although on the page he later changes it to Battlestar. Murphy’s Universe claims that Lemar Hoskins will indeed feature in the show.

In another photo, we see that a scene is being filmed on a football field. That could be significant, since in the comics U.S. Agent makes his debut thwarting a staged attack on a high school football game. Of course, any and all of this could be tweaked for the series, but it certainly appears for now that showrunner Malcom Spellman knows his Captain America lore.

The prospect of a conflict between U.S. Agent and Hoskins on one side and Falcon and the Winter Soldier on the other is very interesting. The one pair is sanctioned by the U.S. government while the others have been branded as outlaws. Should be fun!
