We’re just 17 days away from the theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and the newest TV spots for the film are showing some surprising footage. The first new spot has everything a Star Wars fan could want: Emperor Palpatine (who’s back, by the way) with a wicked new line (“This will be the final word in the story of Skywalker”), an updated version of “Duel of the Fates” playing while Rey faces Kylo Ren, and Poe Dameron screaming “Nooo!” as he watches an X-Wing crash into a First Order ship. Watch!
I’m super into Rey — who’s wearing a Jedi Knight’s hood — watching Kylo Ren’s ship burn. And it looks like it’s happening on Ahch-To, the planet Luke Skywalker hid away on from The Last Jedi.
This next video has yet another Palpatine voiceover. Guy is feeling chatty after sitting out the last two movies, apparently. Also, we’ve got Leia holding a lightsaber on the same forested planet.
And in the newest teaser, Rey uses a Jedi mind trick on some stormtroopers while Poe and Finn watch.
She’s definitely tried that trick on them.
Speaking of Poe and Finn, John Boyega is leaning into the love for the pair on his Instagram:
Finally, can you see Luke Skywalker in this new poster?
Don’t even come back at me with “I see Obi-Wan, not Luke.” I have spoken.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
