Doctor Who comics: The Thirteenth and Tenth Doctors join forces in January 2020!
By James Aggas
The Thirteenth Doctor not only meets a familiar face, but also an old enemy, in the first issue of Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor: Season 2 – out next month!
Well this certainly sounds like an interesting storyline! Next month, two Doctors have to join forces to fight an old enemy, as the second year of Titan Comics’s Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor begins!
Written by Jody Houser and with artwork by Roberta Ingranata, issue 1 of The Thirteenth Doctor: Season 2 features the current team that we’re all familiar with – the Thirteenth Doctor (as played by Jodie Whittaker), Ryan, Yaz and Graham.
But it also features another team, one that we know all too well – the Tenth Doctor (originally played by David Tennant), and Martha Jones. In fact, for this storyline, it takes place during the events of one of the era’s most iconic episodes – Blink. And yes, you guessed it – in this storyline, the Weeping Angels feature!
Blink plays a major role in the first issue of The Thirteenth Doctor: Season 2.

Fresh start
This promises to be a fresh start for The Thirteenth Doctor comic series. Every so often, Titan Comics gives the audience clear jumping-on points with their various Doctor Who comic series, and this brand new storyline looks set to be a prime example of that.
I’ll admit, I generally haven’t followed the comics as closely as I do with Big Finish’s audios, although I’ve certainly enjoyed what I’ve read in the past. But I think I’ll be keeping a close eye on this series. If they want to draw the readers in with a major hook, well, for this fan at least, it’s certainly worked.
Here’s the official description for the first issue.
"Eisner-nominated writer Jody Houser and Witchblade artist Roberta Ingranata return for a brand new story in the Thirteenth Doctor comic series. An epic adventure spinning off the new season starting in the new year, starring Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor. With her pals, Ryan, Yaz and Graham, the Doctor encounters a familiar foe, and it’ll take a familiar face to stop them!"
The first issue will be out on Jan 8, 2020, priced at $3.99.
