Doctor Who: Christmas anthology Blood on Santa’s Claw is out now!

The Sixth Doctor, Peri and her new boyfriend Joe have four Christmas adventures in the new Doctor Who audio anthology Blood on Santa’s Claw and Other Stories – out today!
Missing the Doctor Who Christmas special this year? Don’t worry, Big Finish has you covered with today’s release Blood on Santa’s Claw and Other Stories – which gives us not just one Christmas story, but four!
Starring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor, Nicolas Bryant as Peri, and introducing Luke Allen-Gale as new companion (and Peri’s new boyfriend) Joe, the TARDIS trio find themselves caught up in a mix of adventures – all with a rather festive theme.
Colin Baker is as enthusiastic as ever for this release:
"I think it’s such a nice tradition now. Doctor Who is so much a part of all our culture that it’s now part of Christmas too. I don’t know whether the other Doctors are doing Christmassy stories, but let’s hope it’s just me!"
It has to be said, Colin’s Doctor does seem rather suited to doing something special for the holiday season. While The One Doctor isn’t openly Christmassy, (at least, not for most of it,) it’s still a story that feels right for the season. But what kind of adventures will the Sixth Doctor get up to this Christmas?
Along with featuring a Christmas theme, Blood on Santa’s Claw and Other Stories will also introduce Joe, a new companion – and a new boyfriend for Peri!

Nev Fountain, writer of one of the stories in Blood on Santa’s Claw, thinks that the holidays are a perfect time for the Sixth Doctor:
"I think the Sixth Doctor is made for anything, but especially Christmas! He has that larger-than-life demeanour and whimsical costume that merge to make him almost a figure of children’s myth and legend – a combination of Santa, the Pied Piper and the Ghost of Christmas Present."
This certainly sounds like an anthology worth checking out, and a perfect way to make up for the lack of a TV Christmas special! Blood on Santa’s Claw and Other Stories is now available on CD and download directly from Big Finish’s website.
