Game of Thrones conquers FanSided’s Fandom 250

FanSided has just released its Fandom 250, its yearly ranking of the top 250 fandoms on Earth, drawn from the world of sports, entertainment, celebrity and beyond.

Feel free to explore the rankings at your leisure, but to get that quick fix, here are the top 10:

2. Los Angeles Lakers
3. Star Wars
4. Beyonce
5. Patrick Mahomes
6. United States women’s national soccer team (USWNT)
7. Zion Williamson
8. Los Angeles Clippers
9. Game of Thrones
10. Serena Williams

FanSided uses a bunch of metrics to determine where things go in the rankings. How active was a certain fandom during the year? How passionate? How many people follow the show or celebrity or team or whatever on social media? And so on.

They also took a fan vote before the rankings were put together, letting visitors to the site have their say about what should go where. And if you rank the fandoms purely by fan vote, the order changes in some interesting ways:
