Another Stephen King thing being adapted for TV, this time with Adrian Brody
The King-aissance continues. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Epix is adapting horror author Stephen King’s 1978 short story, Jerusalem’s Lot, which is not the same thing as Salem’s Lot, although they do both involve lots and witches.
Starring Adrien Brody (The Pianist), Jerusalem’s Lot takes place in the fictional Maine town of Preacher’s Corners, in 1850. Brody plays Charles Boone, who has to confront a dark and terrifying secret about his family.
Production is set to begin in May, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The series will play out over the course of10 episodes, with a possible 2020 release date. Donald De Line (Wayward Pines) will serve as executive producer, with Jason and Peter Filardi (The Craft) filling the showrunners slot.
“This series is an intense, absolutely terrifying reimagining of classic gothic horror,” Epix president Michael Wright said in a statement. “We can’t wait to work with the exceptional team of Donald De Line and Jason and Peter Filardi, along with our phenomenal lead actor, Adrien Brody…and of course, when it comes to horror, it doesn’t get any better or more masterful than Stephen King. We’re thrilled to be the home to this incredible show.”
Jerusalem’s Lot is just one of many King stories currently being adapted for TV. There’s Lisey’s Story over at Apple TV+, The Dark Tower at Amazon, The Stand at CBS All Access, The Outsider at HBO, Castle Rock at Hulu, Mr. Mercedes over on the Audience Network and Creepshow at Shudder. And at the movies, we can’t forget the recent IT films. The guy is absolutely everywhere.
