Game of Thrones season 8 nominated for Golden Reel Awards
The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones has already taken home a lot of hardware, including 12 Emmy Awards earlier this year. And awards seasons is just getting started. The show also nabbed six Hollywood Professional Associations Award nominations, four Critic’s Choice Awards noms, and one Golden Globe nom. The world is full of little golden statues.
And there’s more to come. Season 8 also been nominated for three Golden Reed Awards, which are handed out by the MPSE (Motion Picture Sound Editors) to recognize excellent in sound editing.
“The Bells,” the episode where Daenerys lit up King’s Landing, picked up a nomination in the category of “Episodic Long Form – Dialogue / ADR.” Supervising sound editor Tim Kimmel, supervising ADR dditor Tim Hands, and dialogue editors Paul Bercovitch and John Matter are all being recognized. Other nominees in this category include:
- Chernobyl, “Please Remain Calm”
- Peaky Blinders, “Mr. Jones”
- Succession, “This is Not for Tears”
- The Crown, “Aberfan”
- The Handmaid’s Tale,“Mayday”
- The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, “A Jewish Girl Walks into the Apollo”
- True Detective, “The Great War and Modern Memory”
You’d think “The Bells” would have this in the bag.
“The Bells” was also nominated in the category of “Episodic Long Form – Sound Effects / Foley.” Up for the honor are supervising sound editor Tim Kimmel; sound designer Paula Fairfield; sound effects editors Bradley Katona and Luke Gibleon; foley artists Jeffrey Wilhoit and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit; and foley editor Brett Voss.
