Someone is making fake trailers for HBO’s Game of Thrones prequels
By Dan Selcke
A while back, HBO officially announced that it was making a Game of Thrones prequel series: House of the Dragon, about the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.
Right now, that’s about all we know. Who’s in the show? When might it premiere? Exactly what events from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood will it cover? No idea.
But that hasn’t stopped fans from cutting together trailers! The YouTube channel Game Of Thrones (not the actual Game of Thrones YouTube channel, which I can’t imagine is pleased with the other one, assuming they know about it) has been mocking up trailers and teasers for a while, drawing footage from Game of Thrones video games, special features from the home video releases, and other movies and TV shows. Check a few of them out:
That last one has over 300,000 views. Some of these trailers even come with release dates. Did you know that House of the Dragon is coming out on January 12, according to that first one? At least one outlet even reported that as real news. And the logo for the fake Game of Thrones channel looks exactly like the logo for the real one, just with slightly different colors. Is HBO…okay with this?
Whatever, let’s enjoy it while it lasts. A while back this channel also put out a trailer for the cancelled Blood Moon prequel, which also got a whole lotta views:
I’m pretty sure the shot with the giant paw is an armored bear from HBO’s His Dark Materials show.
Anytime HBO wants to put out a real trailer for House of the Dragon, we’ll be here.
