Murder, Nazis, Tommy Guns and Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) looking absolutely fantastic as the chameleon-like demon Magda — these things that are front and center in the first official teaser for Showtime’s Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. Check it out:

Dormer’s vampy demoness definitely steals this trailer, although it’ll be fun to see Nathan Lane playing a hardboiled detective.

City of Angels is John Logan’s followup to the beloved Penny Dreadful, which was set in Victorian London. This time the action is moving to 1938 Los Angeles, “a time and place deeply infused with social and political tension.” Here’s the synopsis:

"When a grisly murder shocks the city, Detective Tiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto) and his partner Lewis Michener (Nathan Lane) become embroiled in an epic story that reflects the rich history of Los Angeles: from the building of the city’s first freeways and its deep traditions of Mexican-American folklore, to the dangerous espionage actions of the Third Reich and the rise of radio evangelism. Before long, Tiago and his family are grappling with powerful forces that threaten to tear them apart."

Just like its predecessor, City of Angels has quite the ensemble cast. In addition to Dormer, Lane and Vega, we’ve also got Lorenza Izzo as Santa Muerte, Magda’s sister and a force for good and light, whereas Magda tries to sow fear and discord.

Obviously, the two of them have a complicated relationship.

Also on board are Jessica Garza, Johnathan Nieves, Adriana Barraza, Rory Kinnear, Kerry Bishé, Michael Gladis, Amy Madigan, Brent Spiner, Lin Shaye, Adam Rodriguez, Ethan Peck (Spock on Star Trek: Discovery) and many more. It’s a full bench here.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels kicks off on Sunday, April 26, only on Showtime.
