Game of Thrones script signed by stars expected to sell for $9,000
By Dan Selcke
How’s this for an investment? Years ago, Jerome Flynn (Bronn) donated a copy of the script for “The Children,” the Game of Thrones season 4 finale, to a charity auction. But this wasn’t just any script. This particular script was signed by dozens of stars from the show, many of whom have only gotten more famous since then, meaning the value of the script has increased.
In 2015, Angela Raybould bought the script for £1,170 (about $1,524.98) at The Star pub in Great Wyrley, Staffs, in England. Proceeds went to help the Global White Lion Protection Trust. Now that the value of the script has appreciated, Reybould is going to have the script auctioned off by Hansons Auctioneers, where it’s expected to bring in anywhere from £5,000 to £7,000, or $6,517 to $9,123.80
“My sister, Louise Ford, told me the script was being auctioned off at her local pub and I decided that, whatever it cost, I had to have it,” Reybould told Reybould. “I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan. I have all the episodes on DVD and my husband bought me Season 8 for Christmas. But because of its value it has to stay locked away in a safe. It’s time for someone else to enjoy it.”
After she bought the script, Angela was invited to London where she got a personalized signature from Flynn himself: “To Angela, Thanks for your generosity, Big Love, Jerome Flynn.” Just in case there weren’t enough already on there.
Jim Spencer, paper expert at Hansons Auctioneers, weighed in as well. “For any Game of Thrones fan this is a wonderful thing to own. The provenance is excellent and if you admire Jerome Flynn too, it’s really got it all.”
No, I don’t know what a “paper expert” is. Anyone?
The script will be auctioned off at Hansons Auctioneers in Derby on Tuesday, January 21. It’s definitely a cool piece of memorabilia for anyone who can afford it.
