Peter Dinklage wins his first-ever Screen Actors Guild Award!

Peter Dinklage has been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award for playing Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones SIX times. Tonight, he finally took home a trophy, in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.

The show also took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series, an award its took home several times in the past. I don’t think anyone’s going to argue that the show didn’t earn this award, over and over:

For whatever reason, the SAG Awards never really recognized the acting talent on Game of Thrones, despite several performers turning in very strong performances over the years. Not only is Peter Dinklage the only Game of Thrones cast member to win this award, he’s the only one to ever even be nominated. Likewise, the show lost out to The Crown in the category of Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, another award it was often nominated for but never won.

Ah, well. Congrats to Peter Dinklage! I hope he has room for the new award on his mantle.
