Set phasers to fun, because Star Trek: Picard makes its much-anticipated debut in just two days! Ahead of that blessed event, CBS All Access has released one final teaser for the show. This one features a certain ship that Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) himself once captained. Check it out:

As you can see, the USS Enterprise makes a brief appearance in the opening moments of the teaser. Picard takes place during the character’s retirement, but I’m willing to bet that we see the beloved starship in a flashback sequence or something. We last saw the Enterprise-E (the most recent version of the ship in Picard’s timeline) in Star Trek: Nemesis, but Picard will feature Jean-Luc captaining a new ship with a new crew.

Also, the Enterprise-E is where Data (Brent Spiner) uploaded all of his memories and awareness, and we know Picard is lamenting the loss of his dear friend in his new show. We also know that Data will show up in some form or another, so that’s something to mull over before Thursday, this week.

Speaking of Star Trek: Picard, the show had its red carpet premiere last week, and all the stars turned out.

Of course, Sir Patrick Stewart’s longtime friend Sir Ian McKellen was on hand to show some support and love.

They look very happy together.

But seriously, the two have been friends for a long time, ever since they met on the set of Bryan Singer’s X-Men movie. “That was when the relationship really began, and it was a simple matter of that we found we had a huge amount in common,” Stewart told The Hollywood Reporter. “I love him deeply. And of course, I think it’s generally known now, he actually married my wife and I.”

"He performed the ceremony. He got himself the documents that gave him permission to marry people, and he’s only done it once. I know he’s had offers to do it, and I think he’s been offered a lot of money to marry people, but at the moment it just remains us."

Wait, so there’s a possibility I could get Gandalf the White to officiate a wedding ceremony? Sign me up for a vow renewal, please. Second breakfast and elevenses will be served at the reception.

Anyway, Space.com was on hand at the premiere to chat with the cast and crew. “It’s amazing,” showrunner Alex Kurtzman said. “We’ve been waiting 18 months for this night, to unleash this on the world and I’m so excited.”

"I think [fans] can expect to be surprised, and I think they can expect to see their old captain being Jean-Luc Picard that they remember, but in a very unsurprising way. Patrick did not want to repeat what he had done, yet if you feel the nostalgia for the show, as everyone does, we’re going to satisfy that too."

Stewart himself got a little more detailed talking to THR, gushing about working with his old Next Generation castmates like Jonathan Frakes (William Riker), who directed episodes of this new show. “I think the second movie, which was the one Jonathan Frakes directed, First Contact, I think was outstanding and was the best of our four movies,” Stewart said. “And some of the episodes that Jonathan directed are also outstanding, and he is directing Star Trek: Picard, two episodes in the first season. And I think I can say with confidence he will be directing in other seasons if and when that happens.”

Let’s hope. But first, Star Trek: Picard season 1 airs this Thursday, January 23, only on CBS All Access.
