Star Trek: Picard makes its much-anticipated premiere on CBS All Access on Thursday night, and Sir Patrick Stewart — Jean-Luc Picard himself — is making the rounds to promote the show. Just lately, he joined the panel on The View to talk about his new Star Trek series.

One of those panelists is Whoopie Goldberg, and what she didn’t know was that Stewart was there to offer her a chance to reprise her Next Generation role of Guinan as on Picard! Watch below, and try not to get emotional:

Goldberg played the alien Guinan for five seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation. As the alien Guinan. She was the bartender of the Enterprise watering hole, the Ten-Forward. Guinan also appeared in two Star Trek movies: Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: Nemesis.

Guinan belongs to the alien species El-Aurians, who are known to be great listeners, a good ability for any bartender.  They can perceive such things as timeline shifts when no one else can. Guinan also kept the godlike alien Q on his toes.

All in all, Whoopie Goldberg appeared in 29 of the 178 episodes of The Next Generation. Before that, she was a big Star Trek fan.

Goldberg will get to reprise her role as Guinan when Star Trek: Picard season 2 begins filming at some point later this year.

Next. J.J. Abrams’ company is developing a Justice League Dark universe. dark
