After a slow start to the first half of the sixth and final season of Vikings, History’s most successful scripted show has picked up steam lately. And if promotional images for this week’s new episode, “Resurrection,” are any indication, that trend will continue!

Let’s look at a few of those pics! Warning: SPOILERS follow below.

First up, after catching them together, Gunnhild proposed Bjorn free and marry his mistress, Ingrid, and it appears the King of Kattegat does exactly that. Gunnhild did say she was not a jealous woman, and it looks like she means it:

By the looks of things, the happy couple are taking their vows seriously. Also, I dig the leaf crown Ingrid is wearing here:

Not to be outdone, Bjorn is rocking a dark blue outfit, complete with black fur. We approve.

Of course, this is Vikings, so any sort of happiness will have to be followed by some sort of tragedy. I know we said there were spoilers before, but now we mean it: the rest of these images contain big SPOILERS, so scroll down at your own risk.

The next two images show Gunnhild abed, and looking rather… unhealthy?

Now before you think this might simply be Gunnhild rethinking her decision to allow her husband to marry another, we’d point to the wash basin in the background covered in bloody rags. Based on that and Gunnhild’s appearance, we’d guess she lost her baby. Hopefully we’re wrong.

Bjorn doesn’t look like a happily married man or king here. Based on his face, we’d again guess Gunnhild has lost their unborn child. With only two episodes to go before Vikings takes a break, we’re getting ready for a sucker punch…or three.
