Will Brandon Routh return as Superman in his very own series?

Brandon Routh will soon be bidding farewell to his time as the adorable, fun-loving Ray Palmer on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. I, for one, am heartbroken to be losing him from the series and the Arrowverse in general. He brings his own flair and humor to the role and will be sorely missed.

Routh, who starred as the Man of Steel in Superman Returns back in 2006, also reprised that iconic role in The CW’s recent “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event, and it was absolutely amazing. It was one of my favorite parts of the crossover ad left me wanting more.

Now, this next part is all rumor, but it’s too good to pass up. Ryan Unicomb, a filmmaker and DC fan known for getting the scoop on DC-related news, has reported that, according to his sources, The CW is considering building a series around Routh’s Superman following his overwhelmingly positive reception during the Crisis. Now, again, this is a rumor based off of Unicomb’s Instagram post…but it’s fun to think about, right?

Now, if this series does happen, according to Unicomb, it could be either on The CW or on HBO Max, with the latter being more likely. And remember: The CW has already ordered the series Superman & Lois, so I think it makes sense to spread the Superman shows around.

Along with Unicomb, fansite Bam! Smack! Pow! also brought up the YouTuber Pagey, another expert in all things Arrowverse, who spoke about this rumored series as well:

I would love to see Brandon Routh don the Superman suit once again, because he was always underrated in this role. It’s great that the Crisis gave his take on the character a moment to shine. And if something more comes out of it, all the better.

And he’ll have more free time with his Legends of Tomorrow gig ending. I’m excited to see him bring us his version of Kal-El. Are you?

Next. Matt Reeves’ The Batman is officially in production!. dark
