Game of Thrones takes home audio, costuming awards

Awards season marches on, and Game of Thrones continues to take home the hardware. Let’s run through its latest conquests!

First up, we stop by the Cinema Audio Society Awards, where Game of Thrones won in the category of “Television Series — 1 Hour” for “The Bells.” Honored were production mixers Ronan Hill, Simon Kerr and Daniel Crowley; rerecording mixers Onnalee Blank and Mathew Waters; and foley mixer Brett Voss.

Here’s what the whole field looked like:

  • Game of Thrones: “The Bells”
  • Peaky Blinders: “Mr. Jones”
  • Stranger Things: “Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt”
  • The Handmaid’s Tale: “Heroic”
  • Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: “Persona Non Grata”

“The Bells” was certainly an audio tour de force, albeit a terrifying one. Still, that scene where Daenerys torched the people of King’s Landing was magnificently put together:

Moving on, longtime Game of Thrones costume designer Michele Clapton took home the award for “Excellence in Sci-Fi / Fantasy Television” at the Costume Designers Guild Awards for her work on the series finale, “The Iron Throne”:

  • Carnival Row: “Aisling” — Joanna Eatwell
  • Game of Thrones: “The Iron Throne” — Michele Clapton
  • The Handmaid’s Tale: “Household” — Natalie Bronfman
  • A Series of Unfortunate Events: “Penultimate Peril: Part 2” — Cynthia Summers
  • Watchmen: “It’s Summer and We’re Running Out of Ice” — Sharen Davis

Anyone who’s even glanced at Clapton’s work over the years knows this award was deserved.

Congrats to all the winners!
