Production on The Mandalorian season 2 is underway, but we’re just now seeing some excellent behind-the-scenes photos from the filming of season 1. Disney has to keep the hype going somehow, I guess.

Earlier this week, we saw how Light & Magic Visual Effects filmed scenes using cutting-edge stagecraft technology, making these far-flung situations seem as real as possible, for both the actors and the audience. Now, the folks over at Slashfilm have debuted a batch of never-before-seen images, all of them from the Nevarro set. That’s the planet where the bounty hunter’s guild is located, and where the Mandalorian and Moff Gideon had their final battle in the season 1 finale.

Speaking of the finale, here’s a behind-the-scenes shot of the lava tunnel our heroes used to escape Moff Gideon’s clutches:

The best part of this photo has to be the guy in the grey suit standing in as the droid IG-11, which was voiced by director Taika Waititi (the voice of IG-11) with his IG-11 head on. You can also see Carl Weathers as Greef Karga and Gina Carano as Cara Dune.

Next up, we have a picture of Kuiil (voiced by Nick Nolte), the Ugnaught moisture farmer who befriended the Mandalorian:

Next, showrunner/creator Jon Favreau and producer/director Dave Filoni talk on set.

Finally, we’ve got the Mandalorian himself, weapons drawn during the showdown with his fellow Mandalorians in the enclave:

This is the way.

It seems like more and more photos from behind the scenes of The Mandalorian season 1 are being revealed all the time, so keep your eyes peeled for more!

Next. Will Teddy Flood (James Marsden) return for Westworld season 3?. dark
