Updates about Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series have been few and far between, forcing fans to wonder how far in the future this live-action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon show really is. But it looks like we might see the first season sooner than we thought. Why do we think that? Well, Netflix recently added a listing for the new series to its website. That seems like an odd addition if the streaming service isn’t planning to at least drop a trailer sometime in the near future.

The listing isn’t much — it doesn’t even have an image or logo for the series just yet — but according to LAD Bible, there was originally a 2020 release date listed beneath the title. There’s even photographic proof to go with it:

That date seems to have been removed since, perhaps because that announcement hasn’t yet been made. The listing also includes the following synopsis:

"Long ago, the four nations lived in harmony. Then, everything changed. The animated show’s original creators helm a live-action take on Aang’s story."

It looks like the service missed a prime opportunity to use “everything changed when the fire nation attacked,” the animated show’s iconic opening line, but it’s early days so we’ll let it go.

It also seems to be emphasizing the original creators’ involvement in the adaptation, which is probably a smart move given how the poorly M. Night Shyamalan’s live-action 2010 film version was received. With any luck, having original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko heavily involved in creating the Netflix version will prove an asset. Or at least, that’s what Netflix is hoping.

While we don’t know much else about the newest version of The Last Airbender, the description suggests it won’t be all that different from Nickelodeon’s original story. We’re still following Aang, and the elemental magic system of the four nations appears to be the same as well. Casting hasn’t been revealed, nor has an official timeline, but we’re crossing our fingers we’ll get such details soon.
