Baby Yoda Funko breaks sales records ahead of official release

Baby Yoda has taken the world by storm ever since it unexpectedly popped up on in the premiere episode of Disney+’s The Mandalorian. We simply can’t get enough of this adorable little creature, which means that demand for merchandise bearing his likeness is at a staggering high.

While there have been plenty of pieces of Baby Yoda merch floating around out there (official and unofficial both), he has yet to get a Funko Pop! figure, which is a no-brainer. Obviously, there’s one on the way.

Want to know something mind-boggling about that? The Baby Yoda Funko Pop isn’t released until February 21, and it’s already become the best-selling Funko figure ever, at least in terms of pre-sales.

Some retailers, like Target, no longer even have the little green guy in stock. Amazon is still taking preorders, and says the figure itself is due out on February 21. Best find ’em while you can!

“Number one selling figure of all time right now,” said toy designer Reis O’Brien. “It’s bananas.” Unfortunately, while Disney gave O’Brien and his team enough information to craft the Baby Yoda figure, they have no idea what going to happen with him when The Mandalorian returns for season 2 this October. “They’ve got to guard spoilers. They’ve got to keep secrets. As far as story points go, we get nothing.”

Now, we should underline that at this point, the Baby Yoda figure is only the best pre-selling Funko in history, not the best selling overall. We won’t know that until it’s released, but is it really hard to imagine it taking the top spot? This is Baby Yoda we are talking about, after all.
