A Joker live concert tour is coming!

Yes, we’re really getting a live concert version of Warner Bros.’ Joker, featuring a full orchestra, per Deadline. Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir’s memorable score will be played live to audiences as they witness Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck spiral into insanity.

Todd Phillips’ take on the classic Batman villain took the world by storm when it released last year, becoming the first R-rated movie to gross $1 billion worldwide, and more recently secured 11 Oscar nominations, including one for Guðnadóttir’s score!

News of the concert tour comes two days after Guðnadóttir won a BAFTA for Original Music, and that’s after she won a Golden Globe. The stars seem to aligning for her in the say way they’re aligning for Phoenix, who’s been taking a lot of acting prizes. Jeff Atmajian, who conducted and orchestrated the original recording for the film, will be working on the concert.

Director Todd Phillips is thrilled the concert tour will let people appreciate the score. “I think it’s a wonderful way for audiences to experience Hildur Guðnadóttir‘s haunting and immersive score while bearing witness to Joaquin Phoenix’s descent into madness as Arthur,” he said.

Guðnadóttir also shared her thoughts. “I’m thrilled to get to see and hear Joker in the cinema with a live orchestra,” she said. “When we recorded the music, the orchestra brought such depth and detailed attention to the performances that we were all literally holding our breaths during most of the recording sessions. It was a beautiful trip. I’m so happy to get to go there again and for an audience to experience that too.”

The tour commences April 30 at the Eventim Apollo in London, before touring the rest of the UK. European dates are yet to be announced. Unfortunately, there are no confirmed dates for the U.S., where the movie grossed over $300 million at the box office, but if the concert proves to be a success it will pave the way for worldwide expansion.
