A $350 life-size Baby Yoda figure is coming, and other merch news
One of the best things about being a nerd is seeing your favorite characters from your favorite shows come to life as collectible figurines. Sure, sometimes that means you’ll spend an ungodly amount of money on a limited edition Jon Snow figurine (complete with Ghost sidekick) or tracking down the one person on eBay who has the Empire Strikes Back Luke Skywalker with a green-bladed lightsaber instead of blue, but once it’s on your shelf, it’s worth it. We’re pretty sure.
Anyway, collecting merch is fun, and Disney’s The Mandalorian has opened up a whole new world of it. For example, who doesn’t want their own Baby Yoda doll to love and squeeze and call your very own? At long last, Sideshow Collectibles has what you crave.
"The Child Life-Size Figure measures 16.5” tall, standing on a simple ship deck base that lets this adorable alien steal all of the focus- along with the Mandalorian’s ship parts. Inspired by its unique onscreen appearance, this mixed media statue features a tan fabric coat swaddling The Child as it gazes up with charming wide eyes, hiding the silver shift knob from the Razor Crest in its right hand."
Life-size Baby Yoda can be yours for “only” $350, or the Beskar steel equivalent. Pre-order yours and become your very own clan of two.
Keeping with adorable baby aliens, Entertainment Weekly has some information on a forthcoming Baby Yoda plush doll. This 7.5 inch figure comes with a couple of props: a bowl of bone broth and a green frog appetizer. He also makes 10 noises, each cuter than the last!
Anyway, you can pre-order the plush doll at Amazon for $24.99. It wasn’t that long ago that no one had any Baby Yoda merch for sale. Now we’re awash in it.
Keeping things with The Mandalorian, check out this heavy infantry Mandalorian warrior figurine, inspired by the third episode, “The Sin”:
This 6-inch Black Series figure is a Best Buy exclusive and sells for $29.99. He comes with a jetpack and laser-canon weapon. This is the way.
Branching out into the larger Star Wars universe, SyFy Wire points us to a picture book that follows Jedi Master Yoda and his padawan, Luke Skywalker, retracing the events from The Empire Strikes Back.
The book — A Jedi, You Will Be — is narrated by Yoda himself, was written by Preeti Chhibber and illustrated by Mike Deas, and will be released on October 6.
Moving on, check out this The Witcher figurine from Dark Horse. It’s based on Ciri from the video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. You can add this amazingly detailed figurine to your collection for $49.99.
You can see all of Dark Horse’s Witcher offerings here.
And in Game of Thrones merch, I have never seen this strange-but-striking piece of art from Big Cartel:
For $25, you can own this 16 x 20 giclee print on 50lbs premium matte, acid-free archival stock. It’s kind of like a rendering of the Stark family in the style of medieval artists, which is appropriate, but I can’t decide if it’s beautiful or creepy.
Finally, Funko has added two new Stranger Things season 3 vinyl figures to its library: Robin ($11) in her Chips Ahoy outfit, and everyone’s favorite Russian defector, Alexei ($13).
The stuff on my shelf will soon have company.
