Disney’s Star Wars hotel, the Galactic Starcruiser, soon taking reservations
By Dan Selcke
You’ve seen the Star Wars movies. You’ve been to the Galaxy’s Edge theme park. Or maybe you haven’t, whatever; soon, you’ll be able to book a two-day, two-night stay on the Galactic Starcruiser, Disney’s immersive, Star Wars-themed hotel.
So what are you in for? Let Disney Imagineer Ann Morrow Johnson take you on a guided tour:
So a stay on the Galactic Starcruiser means getting into a module and being taken to a ship called the Halcyon (read: standing in a room where it jostles for a minute and stars are projected on the screen that’s supposed to be a window). Once on the ship, you sleep in beds of the kind you’ve seen in the Star Wars movies (“not unlike what we’ve seen Chewie sleep in), have a window to space, use a lightsaber against a training remote, tour the bridge, take a “planet excursion” to the Galaxy’s Edge theme park, and more!
It doesn’t sound un-fun — it’s kind of like a Disney World ride that lasts a whole weekend. And I imagine you’re not as confined to the actual Starcruiser as the video makes it sound.
Still, I don’t even want to think about how much a two-night stay on a fake space station will cost people. But if Star Wars fans want it badly enough, they’ll make it happen.
Disney will start taking reservations later this year, although the Galactic Starcruiser itself won’t actually open until 2021 at Disney World in Florida.
