Man makes functional Star Wars landspeeder
By Dan Selcke
Most of the vehicles in Star Wars you can’t actually pilot in real life…your X-wings, your Sandcrawlers, your Death Stars, etc. Maybe someday, but not now.
But that’s no reason fans shouldn’t try to build some of these contraptions themselves, and many have indeed taken a swing at it. Most recently, YouTuber colinfurze took a stab at recreating Luke Sywalker’s X-34 landspeeder from A New Hope, which he used to zip around Tatooine before catching a ride into the stars with Han Solo:
So how did it turn out? Find out below!
A more or less fully functional landspeeder, complete with jets! Although I’m irrationally disappointed that it uses wheels rather than floats miraculously above the ground. That was a good try with the long mirror covering the wheels, colinfurze; too bad it fell off. Lemme know how things go with version 2.0.
Colinfurze, by the way, is an old hand at building Star Wars props. He’s also constructed a full TIE fighter…
and an AT-AT:
Next step: Starkiller Base. That may require a Kickstarter or something.
