In 2015, Disney suddenly pulled the plug on Netflix’s The Clone Wars, an animated Star Wars show that had been running for six seasons. When it did, it left left fans hanging as to the ultimate fates of Clone Squad 99, aka the Bad Batch. The squad consisted of elite yet defective clone troopers who elected to undergo procedures that would give them unique mutations. There was Sergeant Hunter, the team leader; Wrecker, the strongman; Crosshair, an incredibly sarcastic sniper; and Tech, the super-intelligent tech specialist.
With Disney+ reviving The Clone Wars for a seventh and final season, the Bad Batch is back and better than ever, and they’ve got their own teaser to boot! Check it out:
Way back when, we had a synopsis for for a four-episode arc that was supposed to wrap up the story of the Bad Batch:
"The battle for Anaxes! The home of the Republic shipyards is under attack from Admiral Trench’s Separatist forces. Jedi Generals Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker lead a two-pronged attack on the ground and in the air. But after weeks of heated battle and mounting losses, the Republic’s grip on Anaxes begins to slip away."
Based on this trailer, it likes like the Bad Batch arc will play out like it was meant to in 2015, with clone troopers Rex and Cody — along with their Jedi counterparts Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi — accompanying Clone Force 99 as they go behind the lines of the Separatist’s droid army and face its leader on the ground, the ruthless Admiral Trench (that spider-looking guy with cybernetic enhancements).
Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 makes its Disney+ debut on February 21. I honestly think I’m looking forward to that premiere more than I was The Rise of Skywalker hitting theaters.
