Pro wrestler Sasha Banks joining the cast of The Mandalorian?

There are a lot of things I like about The Mandalorian, the live-action Star Wars series on Disney+, starting with the casting. Pedro Pascal as the titular taciturn bounty hunter? Perfection. Giancarlo Esposito as the power-hungry Moff Gideon? You couldn’t ask for a better villain. Left field actors like Werner Herzog, Amy Sedaris and Nick Nolte in supporting roles? This is the best show ever. And don’t get me started on the puppet playing Baby Yoda.

The show has also had a lot of success with Gina Carano, who plays former shock trooper Cara Dune. Carano is a former mixed martial artist who’s transitioned to acting, and I’ll be honest: I was wary she wouldn’t be able to do what the show asked of her. There’s a tricky history with athletes who become actors; sometimes you luck out and get a Dwayne Johnson, but just as often you get a Shaquille O’Neal. It’s a risk.

But Carano was excellent as Dune, and it looks like Disney may be going back to the athlete well for season 2. According to sources at Pro Wrestling Sheet, wrestler Sasha Banks will be joining the cast for season 2.

I don’t know a ton about Banks, but I love her look; she could probably keep her hair color and fit right into the Star Wars universe. Also she can smash people with folding chairs, as demonstrated below. That’s gotta come in useful in other contexts, right?

Now, Disney hasn’t announced anything official, but I wouldn’t be shocked if we see Banks in the mix when The Mandalorian season 2 premieres in October.

Meanwhile, viewers in the UK can watch the first season of The Mandalorian come March 24, when Disney+ UK finally drops across the pond. Unfortunately, it sounds like the episodes will be rolled out one at a time, just like they were when the show premiered here:

I actually really liked the once-a-week strategy for The Mandalorian — it made the waits in between episodes exciting — but after the whole series has been out for months, I can understand why English viewers might just want to get it.
