As far as the streaming wars go, Apple TV+ is lagging behind competitors like Disney+ and Netflix, but you can’t say they’re not giving their all. They’ve got a post-apocalyptic epic in See, a splashy modern dramedy in The Morning Show, a creepy horror hit in Servant, a comedy for the video gaming set in Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet…go on, Apple TV+, you’re gonna make it after all!
And now, they’ve got Amazing Stories, a reboot of Steven Spielberg’s NBC show from the ’80s. This anthology series will tell “five unique stories” that all brush up against the supernatural, whether it’s grandpa Robert Forster — in his final performance after dying last year getting superpowers, military planes flying through time, or what have you.
Now that is some classic Spielberg stuff: you’ve got sweeping cameras, family dramas, and swelling music. I’m in, this looks fun.
Or I would be in if I had Apple TV+, which I don’t…yet. There are just a lot of streaming services out there, y’know? And I only have so much time and money. Maybe something will convince me to finally take the plunge.
How about you? Is this enough? If so, Amazing Stories drops on March 6.
