Doctor Who fans who have been loving Jodie Whittaker as the iconic character, you’re in luck! Despite any rumors to the contrary, showrunner Chris Chibnall has said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that is returning for his third season on the show.

I’m over the moon to hear this, because Chibnall has brought an intriguing allure to the series it’s never quite had before. The stories, characters and adventures feel different that what Doctor Who has given us since it was revived in 2005, and I’m ecstatic to know we’ll be getting more of it.

"I do know I’m coming back for a third season. Yeah, absolutely. We are already planning the stories. Once you see the end of this series, you’ll realize there are some stories we’re already setting in train for next series. We have very big, ambitious plans for our third series together."

I need to watch this season’s two-part finale as soon as possible; there seems to be so much hype and excitement surrounding it!

And happily, it sounds like Chibnall is committed to not making us wait too long to see more of the show, saying it will probably come out “next year, sometime.” We’ll be waiting!

Speaking of Doctor Who showrunners, former Who boss Steven Moffatt shared a hilarious story about the current season while speaking to Radio Times. He was at dinner with Sacha Dhawan, who plays the villainous Master and the Doctor’s archnemesis. Only this conversation took place before that was known. “Look, don’t tell me anything about what you’re doing on the show,” Moffat recalled saying. “Because I don’t want to know. But are you enjoying it?” Dhawan replied, “Oh it’s great, apart from all the really complicated dialogue like, oh, Tissue Compression Eliminator.”

And Moffatt knew exactly which character Dhawan would be playing.

Of course, only a hardcore Whovian would be able to make that connection so easily, so maybe a dinner between a former Doctor Who showrunner and a current cast member was always going to end this way!
