Mission: Impossible 7 shuts down production due to Coronavirus

Mission: Impossible 7 may be an impossible mission to complete, due to the recent spread of Coronavirus in Italy. The franchise’s seventh installment, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, was being filmed in Venice, but with around 219 cases currently reported in the country — the highest number outside China, Japan and South Korea — they’ve decided to stop production, according to Deadline.
Following their three-week Venetian stay, Mission: Impossible 7 was set to film in other countries, but now the plan is unclear. This doesn’t come as a surprise and is definitely prudent measure given what’s happening, but it’s still unfortunate.
For now, it seems, Tom Cruise has to wait it out within the confines of his hotel room at the five-star Gritti Palace hotel in Venice, at least according to The Daily Mail, which admittedly is a dubious source at best. Whether Cruise is in there or not, he’s fine. Considering how nice the Gritti is, it might be the preferred option.
Details are scarce about the next leg of the production at this time. Meanwhile, we’re sending good and safe vibes to our dear Ethan Hunt and the production team!
