Macaulay Culkin joins the cast of American Horror Story season 10

American Horror Story season 10 is officially a go, at least in terms of the cast. I’m happy to report that not only are Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters coming back this season (they weren’t in season 9), but Ryan Murphy has added a new, very familiar face to the lineup.

Murphy released a video announcing the cast on Instagram, and as always, it was cryptic and strange. Set to the tune of Orville Peck’s “Dead of Night,” the names appeared on the screen while ocean waves on the beach crash in the background:

Anyway, who is this new cast addition I’m talking about? It’s none other than Macaulay Culkin. who was left behind by his parents when they went on vacation 30 years ago and hasn’t let it get him down.

Honestly, Culkin seems like a perfect fit to join Murphy’s scary band of misfits; the showrunner loves casting screen icons, whether in meaty roles or for cameos — see Kathy Bates, Angela Basset, Lady Gaga, etc. And of course, Culkin looks nothing like we remember him from his Home Alone days.

If you follow him on social media, you know he’s a seriously quirky dude, and he should fit right into American Horror Story. According to Variety, this will be Culkin’s first series regular role on a live-action television series. He’s appeared in a handful of other things, including lending his voice to the Adult Swim stop-motion series Robot Chicken.

I’m super excited to see what he brings to the show. I think it’ll be a welcome change to the cast, and a nice back to welcome back Peters and Paulson. The show just wasn’t the same without them so I’m glad to have them back.

Along with Culkin, Peters, and Paulson, there are a handful of Ryan Murphy favorites returning, including Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross and Finn Wittrock.

The series shows no signs of stopping, as FX just gave it a three-season renewal just recently. I’m curious to see what season 10 has in store for us as far as story and plot go. Murphy always has crazy ideas up his sleeve, from a haunted house to a freak show to a summer camp in 1984. We don’t know what season 10 has in store yet, but the cast announcement is a good start.
