Last year, Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, giving it access to a plethora of shows and movies and franchises it didn’t have access to before, like The Simpsons. Now, the longest-running primetime scripted series in history gears up to bring us this very timely joke: Kevin Feige, the architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will voice a Thanos-like character in Sunday’s new episode, “Bart the Bad Guy.” His name? Chinnos.
Josh Brolin does have a prominent chin in those movies. I get it.
Anyway, it sounds like the episode will be a sendup of all things Marvel in general, per Variety. MCU vet Cobie Smulders stars as a hero named Hydrangea, while Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo play studio executives who try to stop Bart from revealing spoilers about the latest Vindicator movie after he accidentally sees it early.
Wait, wasn’t “Vindicators” the name of the Avengers parody from Rick and Morty? The one that aired three years ago?
The Simpsons writers had to have known that, right?
Maybe they were waiting for Disney to buy their parent company before doing their corporate-approved satire. We can probably expect relatively few gags insinuating that Walt Disney had Nazi leanings from here on out:
“Bart the Bad Guy” airs this Sunday on Fox.
