Thanos is dead, and we’re into Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And that means…TV! The Falcon and the Winter SoldierWandaVision and Loki are at the forefront, but Disney is planning a whole mess of Marvel TV shows to go along with its new slate of movies.

That includes a show all about She-Hulk, a superhero that…well, she’s like the Hulk, but a she. Getting specific, the She-Hulk is Jessica Walters, an attorney who needs a blood transfusion after an accident. Since her cousin is Bruce Banner, he steps up. After an infusion of gamma ray-streaked blood, Jessica finds herself a lot stronger, a lot faster, and a lot greener.

Although we don’t know exactly what direction Disney will take with the series, in the comics, Jessica is able to retain her intelligence in Hulk mode, just as “Professor Hulk” can in Avengers: Endgame. She also doesn’t look drastically different than she did before; she’s just Jessica with green skin and some extra muscle, whereas Bruce grows, like, three feet taller when he transforms.

Anyway, if this is She-Hulk’s origin story, you’d figure that Bruce Banner would have to at least make an appearance, no? Speaking at C2E2 this past weekend, Mark Ruffalo did indeed imply that this could happen. “I would think so, yeah,” he said. “But I don’t have much control over that.”

"There’s some talk about it, but it’s all kind of preliminary. It would be nice to see Banner, Hulk, Professor [or] somebody show up to help and to guide or a be a gentle guiding presence of She-Hulk as a friend."

Ruffalo also speculated a little about a possible spinoff show for the original Hulk — I mean, if Hawkeye is getting his own show, why not Bruce Banner? “I’d probably start him on the run again, a little bit,” Ruffalo said. “I think that really works. In this new digital age, where we’re all being surveilled, that might really be kind of an interesting dimension to how he stays on the run in that way. That’s probably where it would start, him deciding, ‘I don’t wanna do this anymore.’ But it’s hard now because he’s the Professor. He’s hard to hide.”

As for who might play She-Hulk, there’s no official word yet, although Allison Brie is a popular choice among fans:

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision are both coming out later this year. For the rest, we’ll have to wait for more details.
