Harrison Ford fondly recalls the “utter disdain” the Star Wars crew had for the movie

Harrison Ford has been making the rounds of late promoting his new film Call of the Wild, but his role as Han Solo in the Star Wars saga has come up quite a bit. Ford is notoriously (and hilariously) blunt in interviews, so when BuzzFeed Celeb  asked him about his favorite memory from the set of the original Star Wars, he didn’t hold back.

"The complete and utter disdain that our very experienced British crew felt for what we were doing. They couldn’t figure it out. Guy running around in a dog suit and a princess and some guys in tight pants. They couldn’t figure out what we were doing, so they laughed at us constantly, thought we were ridiculous. And we were, but we made a movie that people really enjoyed seeing."

This is 100% on brand for the man who once told George Lucas on set, “George! You can type this shit, but you sure can’t say it! Move your mouth when you’re typing!”

Anyway, we’re betting that original crew changed their tune when Star Wars went on to become arguably the most successful and influential movie of the past 50 years. Also, how much more fun would Hollywood be if everyone answered questions like Harrison Ford? Or maybe everyone would be out of a job. Worth it.

Speaking of being out of job, Ford played coy when asked if he ever took home any props from the Star Wars films. “Steal props? No, I wouldn’t do that. I took away memories.” Assuming we believe him (which we totally don’t), Ford said many of those memories involved Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), who passed away in 2016, “Carrie was a lot of fun she was really smart, she was really funny. She was a good person. A lot of memories of Carrie.”

Call of the Wild is in theaters now.
