The DVD/Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out at the end of this month. To hype the happy occasion, Disney has released a bevy of HD video clips showcasing key scenes from the theatrical release.
The Rise of Skywalker will be the first movie in the Disney era to be released without deleted scenes or a director’s commentary, in this case from J.J. Abrams. However, there will be more than two hours of bonus material to delve into.
On to the clips. First up, here’s C-3PO getting his memories back from R2-D2:
And here’s Lando comforting Poe after the death of Leia:
And here’s a snippet from what is arguably the movie’s best fight scene: the lightsaber duel between Rey and Kylo Ren, where both characters used Force powers we hadn’t yet seen them use.
After Rey defeats Kylo, he finds his way back to the Light, with help from a vision of his late father, Han Solo:
When Rey confronts Palpatine on Exogal, a now-redeemed Ben Solo helps her battle the Sith Lord.
In one key flashback, we saw young Luke and Leia training with lightsabers after the events of Return of the Jedi. Obviously, this isn’t young Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher filming this scene, but you could’ve fooled us:
When Kylo Ren tracks Rey and her friends to the desert planet of Pasaana, she cuts his ship in half. That’ll learn em.
Rey got super-powerful between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Too bad there’s not a deleted scene or three filling in those blanks.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will first be released on digital on March 17, then on DVD/Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD on March 31.
