The Mandalorian wraps filming on season 2

Former MMA fighter-turned-actor Gina Carano quickly became a fan favorite in season 1 of Disney+’s The Mandalorian as the former rebel shock trooper Cara Dune. Production on season 2 of the first-ever live-action Star Wars show has been underway for a while, with a premiere date set for October.

With that in mind, we should expect production to eventually wind down at some point in the next couple of months. And Carano herself took to Instagram to tell us that she’s already done with her scenes:

"That’s a wrap on season 2.. I absolutely love this work and the people in it. 🤍 #storytelling ✨#themandalorian"

Wait, should we be worried? Does this mean Cara Dune might not make it all the way through season 2? She does kinda sound like she’s bidding goodbye to her buddies:

“It’s been a pleasure to work beside you” sounds awfully permanent, doesn’t it? Naturally, Twitter is airing out its fears:

Hopefully Carano is just saying goodbye for now. After all, it looks like the production is wrapping up as a whole, and everyone is surely feeling wistful. That includes director of photography Baz Idoine, who also posted a goodbye photo, and this one revealed that showrunner Dave Filoni was returning to direct an episode (or two, it’s hard to tell just from this):

Also, that is a nifty koi in the corner of the clapper.

Anyway, Filoni’s return to the director’s chair should come as no surprise. The man behind The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels animated series directed two episodes of The Mandalorian season 1: “Chapter 1: The Mandalorian” and “Chapter 5: The Gunslinger.”

The Mandalorian returns for season 2 later this year!
